Blessings
Before mezuzahs are mounted, the traditional blessing
is said:
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe,
who has sanctified us with his commandments, commanding
us to affix the mezuzah.
Some
also say the Shehechyanu:
Blessed
are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has
kept us alive and sustained us and permitted us to reach
this moment.
Traditionally,
salt and bread are then brought into the home and blessed,
symbolizing that there never be a lack of food in the
house. |
